BPNC Full-Service Community School

Thomas Kelly College Prep

At Brighton Park Neighborhood Council (BPNC), we are committed to supporting our students in our community. That's why we have partnered with Thomas Kelly High School and other organizations to build a coalition dedicated to providing resources and support to students and their families. We believe that schools are at the heart of our community, and we are working hard to ensure that students have the tools they need to succeed.

We Follow the Sustainable Community Schools Model

Sustainable Community Schools strive to improve the access to various academic and non-academic programs for children and families, improve the relationships between teachers, parents, and school personnel, and create a mutually supportive environment where classroom and social support services work together to enhance student achievement. Sustainable Community Schools will be connected to the neighborhood and intentionally involve parents, students, and community partners.

OUR PRINCIPLES:

  • Racial Justice and Equity
  • Transparency and Trusting Relationships
  • Self-determination and Governance
  • Build from community strengths, community wisdom and data/best practice evidence
  • Shared leadership and collaboration
  • Reflective learning culture
  • Whole child approach to education

OUR PILLARS:

  • Curricula that are engaging, culturally relevant, and challenging
  • An emphasis on high-quality teaching, not high-stakes testing
  • Wrap-around support and opportunities
  • Positive discipline practices, such as restorative justice and social-emotional learning supports
  • Authentic parent and community engagement
  • Inclusive school leadership.
